A candlelit dining table set with dark timber, crisp linens, and copper accents inside Card Manor Stradbroke's restaurant

Restaurant Dining

An intimate dining room where the evening deepens.

After the cards are down, settle into a room designed for slow conversation and considered plates. The kitchen works with local growers and a changing seasonal menu, served in a space that feels like a private dining room.

The Kitchen's Philosophy

A kitchen that respects the season and the room.

The kitchen is led by a chef who treats the dining room as an extension of the card room: precise, considered, and quietly confident. Menus change with the seasons, drawing from Victorian growers and producers. Expect dishes that are refined but unpretentious, built around a few excellent ingredients.

What shapes the menu:

  • Seasonality first
  • Local sourcing
  • Restraint in technique
  • Shared plates

Signature Dishes

From the pass

Slow-cooked lamb shoulder

With smoked paprika and charred lemon. Tender, fall-apart texture, served with roasted root vegetables.

Pan-seared barramundi

With brown butter, capers, and parsley. Crisp skin, moist flesh, and bright, balanced flavors.

Dark chocolate and hazelnut torte

With crème fraîche. Rich, not overly sweet—a fitting end to the evening.

Dish names are illustrative; the final menu changes with the season.

The Dining Room

A room lit for conversation.

The dining room carries the same after-dark character as the poker room: smoked graphite walls, dark timber joinery, and copper light that pools on each table. Seating is deliberately limited to keep the room quiet and unhurried. It is a space for lingering over a final course or a glass of wine after the cards are put away.

The dining room feels like a private club—quiet, warm, and exactly where you want to be after a long night at the table.

Dining After Poker

From the felt to the table

Many guests begin in the poker room and move to the dining room as the evening winds down. The kitchen keeps a later seating specifically for players, with a menu designed to be enjoyed after a session. It is a seamless transition: the same quiet focus, the same warm light, now turned toward food and conversation.

Typical evening flow:

  • 7:00 PM Poker session begins
  • 9:30 PM Kitchen opens for post-poker seating
  • 10:00 PM Dining room at its quietest
  • 11:30 PM Last orders

Times are illustrative; actual hours may vary.

The food was exceptional, but what stayed with me was the atmosphere—quiet, warm, and perfectly in tune with the poker room. It felt like the evening had a proper ending.
